Don't stop believing - displaying my writing skills

http://ericseportfolio.blogspot.ca/2013/02/dont-stop-believing.html

This post displays my writing ability relative to social media. I think is important especially in the business world because everything has to be written formally with minimal spelling errors.

This is my first impression interview. This is especially important in the business world because a first impression is everything. There is no 2nd first impression so the way you make it could have an impact on your future. Could be one of the deciding factors whether you get the job or not.

Unfortunately This is my personal facebook profile & not one that I have made separate for jobs.In saying that though, I still think a facebook profile is important because it gives them a sense of who you are based on your pictures.  A business wouldn't want to higher someone who has careless photos that will give their company a bad rep. Especially if its for one of the management or executive positions.

Change in social media

Social media will continue to grow and expand in ways that are beyond our wildest imagination. You can say bye to all your paper books soon a long with your newspapers. Scary enough even home phone lines might disappear one day as cell phones continue to become more technologically advanced.  With thus being said, there are down sides to all of this. It is getting a lot harder and harder to keep your privacy anymore. It also means less face to face communication. None the less though it is growing fast and it will help the business world in the future.

I definitely think social media helps marketing a lot more than people think. There are a lot of social networking sites out there that make it very easy to market your product. Whether it is face book or twitter or instagram, products are being marked all the time and sometimes you may not even recognize it. Not just social media but even changing ads you see. Billboards could change so they are advertising not one product but multiple which is definitely a way to utilize advertising affectively.

In terms of popularity I would definitely say video games. The PS4 is set to release this November and the graphics are absolutely stunning. If you think back just 10 years ago when video games were more or less new, they have come long a way. People are able to interact with things like the kinect and Wii U which no one even thought would be possible 10 years ago. I just can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us in terms of technology cause the world is going to become a much cooler placer than it already is!

Social media and elections.

Even though the 2012 election has passed... I still think it did play a key role in the election and will continue to play key roles in future elections.  The phenomenon is not over hyped. It helps get the word out for campaigns. It keeps voters up to date and spreads good word for the candidates running. Just think, an election without social media? These days that is almost unheard of. Social media plays vital rolls in many different ways. I log onto facebook and about once a month I come across a picture of barack Obama and it always shows him doing something nice for his community. This picture alone gets somewhere around hundreds of thousands of like. This goes to show how much of an impact a picture can have on an authority figure. When it shows him doing good things, it helps portray an image which people will remember when they think back on this president. Not only does it help with an image it can also be a vital source of information. Campaigns are huge in elections; social media helps these. They show you who won what election as well as where it was and possible info when the next closest one is coming to you. Bottom line is... if you can use social media your success can be endless. You can use it to make your opponent look bad and make yourself look good. Oh, I also didn’t mention that Obama posts facebook updates on his fan page with economy related problems and how they are going to be fixed. No longer do you have to check the news or go looking for it, but the news simply comes to you; genius idea if you ask me.

Don't stop believing!

You turn on the evening news & the top story comes on. It is usually covered in about 2-5 minutes. Since most news casts only have about an hour they have to keep it short and to the point to fit in the rest of their material that they need to cover. Therefore they might miss something, or maybe not always explain everything about why it happened or give some detailed background on it. This is where social media comes in handy. I think that social media has increased the quality of news information. Instead of only hearing about the top news story for a brief moment, social media allows us to search for these top stories online. By doing this, you can get a far more in depth view on the story and it can be explained in more detail. You’re asking well, how does this let us increase the quality? Well it allows the readers to take their time when reading the article and make sure they take in all the pieces of information that is being said about this news story. Unlike with the news, unless you have Bell cable, you can’t really go back and rewind live TV. Also, (I know this can happen on the internet too) some news casts could be biased towards the topics they are covering. So you may only see it from one point of view which isn’t always the case or right. By viewing the news online, you may get information you have missed or read it from someone else’s perspective. I mean you could argue also that it may have been altered or changed, but for the most part if it is a legit news website; the info that is posted on it should be correct. All in all, I think social HAS improved our quality of news because it allows us to view stories, wherever from whenever and there could be way more detail in that one media page then on TV. Not to say news casts aren’t good at covering news stories, just in my opinion reading it is a lot easier then it all coming at you at a rapid pace over a span of a couple minutes then it’s gone; and by the time it sinks in you may wish you could see it again, so that’s why I say social media is key for that kind of stuff.

Do I think social media is a fad or the biggest shift since the new years resolution?

I think it all depends on the way you look at it from. Media is a fad in a sense, with some social networking sights but I also think it's one of the biggest shifts since the industry revolution.  It has has definitely improved our life making it easier. One of the ways it has changed our lives is we can make connections with people a lot easier. We can keep linked with people through social media which can help us in the future in terms of trying to find a job. We can plan things a lot easier, which helps us save time.   We also use it to help build a reputation for our selves as well as kind of an identity. Examples would be Facebook. A good example of how social media has changed us is a website called LinkedIn. This website is the business of Facebook. This websites can help you find a job without actually have to leave your house and visit every single place you want to apply too. These days saving time is everything, so thanks to social media we can work more efficiently. It can help business as well. For example you can use social media to advertise your business. Basically, the bottom line if social media is big and it is only going to continue getting bigger. Weather it is for your own personal self, business purposes it is making peoples lives easier for everyone.
